If you find yourself in need of food assistance, here is some basic information on how the food shelf works.

Service Area

We serve the communities of Cottage Grove, Newport, Saint Paul Park and Grey Cloud Island. If you live in any of these communities, you are considered to be in our “service area” and can come to the food shelf as a new “client”. If you do not live in any of these four communities, please click here to find the food shelf which serves your area.

Eligibility

Anyone living in these four communities is eligible to come to the food shelf. We ask that when you visit us the first time that you bring a picture ID with your current address in our service area and a current bill showing your address in our service area. The bill can be a rent coupon, utility bill, phone bill or any other bill dated recently.

Hours/Location

Friends in Need is open only on Tuesdays from the hours of 9am – 6pm. For a complete calendar of food shelf events and days which we are closed (holidays, etc) click here.

You MUST make an appointment before coming into the food shelf. To make an appointment, please call 651-458-0730. If you get our voicemail, that means others are also calling and making appointments so please try back every few minutes until you reach our receptionist to make your appointment.
